4 Quick and Easy Home Improvement Projects

“Your home is your castle.” So they say, but right it may not feel that way. If your house is beginning to feel a little drab, starting a home improvement project is a great way to spice things up. On the other hand, these projects can start to get a little out of hand if you’re not careful. Thankfully, quick and easy projects are plentiful and can have a huge effect on the way your home looks. Try some of these on for size:

Repaint or Replace Your Front Door

The outside of your house is the first impression you make on visitors. If it’s looking drab and unappealing it brings down the mood. Repainting your house is a sure way to fix this, but it’s also a sure way to eat up a ton of your money and time. Instead, try repainting or replacing your front door.
If you’ve got a wooden door that’s in good shape, repaint it a new color that complements the rest of the house. Be sure to remove the door before painting it. It’s also a good idea to take off any hinges and remove the door knob beforehand so you don’t get paint on them.
If your door is in awful shape, it might not be a bad idea to get rid of it altogether. A new door will give your house a new look, and it might even keep you safer too.

Paint a Wall

Adding a splash of color to a room with a new paint job can really change things around. However, repainting an entire room is a lot of time, effort, and mess. Painting just a wall, though, is much easier.
Choose a bright color that contrasts with the other three walls of the room. Once you have your paint and brushes, be sure to lay down tape and prepare the room the same way you would if you were painting everything. With this method you should be done quickly and on with your life before the day is done.

Organize Your Closet

One of the quickest ways to fix a drab looking home is to reduce clutter. Investing in some new methods of organization can help make sure everything has its place. It will also allow you to put more things in a smaller area, giving you access to more of your house.
Organizing your closet is a great quick home improvement project. Weed out any clothes that you no longer wear and donate them. Then, put in some shelving and hangers to store the clothes that you do wear. Find a place to keep out of season clothes so you don’t have to dig through the stuff you don’t want to get to the stuff you do. Add a shoe rack and you’ll feel like you have a closet that’s twice the size.

Upgrade Your Bathroom

Because of its constant use and exposure to moisture, your bathroom can get nasty in a hurry. Making a few small changes in this room can give you a lot of benefits. Start with a deep clean of the walls and floor to get rid of any mold. Then make some changes in color – add different towels, change the shower curtain and mat, or put up a few pictures. Switching out your old faucet for a new one is a subtle change that can make a lot of difference. If you’re feeling particularly ambitious, repainting your bathroom will give it an entirely new look without the effort that painting a larger room would require.
Small changes can really add up when it comes to remodeling your home. You don’t have to sink hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars into sprucing up your space – a quick project can go a very long way.
